A gorgeous glass intaglio pendant depicting a striding Bull and the name ‘Burch’ below.
A copy of the original intaglio carved by Edward Burch between 1750-1814.
The glass is Carnelian in colour and in excellent condition.
The pendant is set a base metal frame, and a 15ct gold setting.
Edward Burch became one of the most celebrated gem engravers of the late eighteenth century.
He was a self-taught miniaturist and seal-engraver, as well as studying drawing at the Royal Academy.
He was extremely successful during the 1770’s, working for James Tassie and Josiah Wedgwood.
After which, failing sight ended his career as an engraver. He became the Academy’s librarian in 1794.

Any stones that are lost or damaged during wear are not covered by The Old Cut. These will be charged for replacement, we can of course help find a suitable jeweller to support repairs.
