A lovely quality Victorian Swallow bird pendant made of 15ct gold.

The entire body and wings of the Swallow are finely chased to replicate the feathers. The detail is insane!

The swooping bird holds a pearl set olive branch in its beak.

The 15ct gold has a lovely patina, that is so typical of this area of jewellery.

Hallmarked 15ct on reverse.

 

Swallow jewellery was often given to loved ones as they set out on a journey, as a token to keep them safe.

The bird was a symbol of love and protection to help ensure their safe return.

This originated from sailors who used swallows as a sign of homecoming. The sighting of one of these birds meant that land was near.

Bracelets & Bangles:

How your bracelet fits is a personal preference.
To check your preferred size, wrap a tape measure loosely around your wrist to the tightness you would like your bracelet to fit.
From the end of the tape measure to the point where it crosses the tape is your desired bracelet length.
Please compare this to the measurements specified on each of our bracelet product pages.
Note, some bracelets are adjustable – this will be mentioned in the description.
Note, if a bangle does not have an opening, you must select one that will pass over your fist.

The measurement will be in cm and inches.
We recommend you place a tape around your neck to see where the chain will sit.

JEWELLERY CARE

Antique Jewellery should be taken care of during wear.

Cleaning and repairs should be carried out by an antique jewellery specialist.

We recommend removing pieces of jewellery before washing hands or showering, as water can damage the antique settings.

Some pieces are not recommended for everyday wear

The Old Cut guarantees the piece up until the new customer receives the item.

Any stones that are lost or damaged during wear are not covered by The Old Cut. These will be charged for replacement, we can of course help find a suitable jeweller to support repairs.
