A super cool Elephant hair and rolled gold bangle.

This is the chunkiest elephant hair bangle I have found so far, with 5 strands of elephant tail hair connected with alternating sections of rolled 14ct gold.

Looks epic alone as it’s wide enough to make a statement, but also looks great mixed in with a bunch of different bangles.

Elephant hair became a popular accessory during Victorian times

It was bought as an exotic souvenir during the British Raj, when Western European adventurers started visiting India and would commission elephant hair jewellery as a souvenir of their safari experience.

The single strand of hair was taken from the elephants tail, and wrapped in gold.

Elephant hair jewellery has been made since and is seen to prevent illness and harm, as well as bring love and luck.

MATERIALS

Elephant tail hair & rolled 14ct gold

Rolled gold was first created in England in the 19th century. It is made by fusing sheets of 9ct or higher gold either side of a base metal.

The metals are heat bonded then rolled into flat sheets.

Rolled gold has around 100 times more gold content, than plated gold.

Bracelets & Bangles:

How your bracelet fits is a personal preference.
To check your preferred size, wrap a tape measure loosely around your wrist to the tightness you would like your bracelet to fit.
From the end of the tape measure to the point where it crosses the tape is your desired bracelet length.
Please compare this to the measurements specified on each of our bracelet product pages.
Note, some bracelets are adjustable – this will be mentioned in the description.
Note, if a bangle does not have an opening, you must select one that will pass over your fist.

Necklaces

All The Old Cut chains and necklaces have the total length detailed in the description.
The measurement will be in cm and inches.
We recommend you place a tape around your neck to see where the chain will sit.
Below is a basic guide to show some popular lengths – note, everyone’s neck is different, so this is just a basic guide.
JEWELLERY CARE

Antique Jewellery should be taken care of during wear.

Cleaning and repairs should be carried out by an antique jewellery specialist.

We recommend removing pieces of jewellery before washing hands or showering, as water can damage the antique settings.

Some pieces are not recommended for everyday wear

The Old Cut guarantees the piece up until the new customer receives the item.

Any stones that are lost or damaged during wear are not covered by The Old Cut. These will be charged for replacement, we can of course help find a suitable jeweller to support repairs.
