An absolutely gorgeous Georgian chain with a Hand and Snake clasp.

The chain is circa 1800, and is made of a wonderful bright yellow high carat gold.

Each link has been lovingly made by hand; every ring is interlaced to create a 3D chain.

The links are connected with a tiny flat plate of gold which catches the light wonderfully.

These chains would have been worn by candlelight! So you can just imagine how they would twinkle.

The clasp is in exceptional condition, it is crafted in high carat gold, depicting a cuffed hand grasping an Ouroboros snake!

The hand is adorned with a garnet ring and a large cabochon garnet is set within the foliate cuff.

The reverse of the hand also has lovely chasing details.

The snake is such a fabulous detail! His entire body is chased and his face is super expressive.

Diameter of chain approx: 0.6cm

Clasp size approx: 3cm x 1.5cm

Weight approx: 40g

Can be worn once or twice around the neck for different looks!

A very rare find, in excellent condition.

Bracelets & Bangles:

How your bracelet fits is a personal preference.
To check your preferred size, wrap a tape measure loosely around your wrist to the tightness you would like your bracelet to fit.
From the end of the tape measure to the point where it crosses the tape is your desired bracelet length.
Please compare this to the measurements specified on each of our bracelet product pages.
Note, some bracelets are adjustable – this will be mentioned in the description.
Note, if a bangle does not have an opening, you must select one that will pass over your fist.

The measurement will be in cm and inches.
We recommend you place a tape around your neck to see where the chain will sit.

JEWELLERY CARE

Antique Jewellery should be taken care of during wear.

Cleaning and repairs should be carried out by an antique jewellery specialist.

We recommend removing pieces of jewellery before washing hands or showering, as water can damage the antique settings.

Some pieces are not recommended for everyday wear

The Old Cut guarantees the piece up until the new customer receives the item.

Any stones that are lost or damaged during wear are not covered by The Old Cut. These will be charged for replacement, we can of course help find a suitable jeweller to support repairs.
