A really elegant Victorian Elephant Hair Bangle Bracelet.

The antique bracelet features one elephant hair strand from the tail, twisted within a fine 9ct gold sheet.

The bangle is expandable, so it is easy to slip on, and fits various wrist sizes.

Largest diameter approx: 7cm

Smallest diameter approx: 5cm

Circumference expanded approx: 20cm

Circumference at smallest approx: 15.5cm

Weight approx: 1.35g

The bangle dates to around 1880/1890; these were often bought as souvenirs during the British Raj, when Western European adventurers started visiting India and would commission elephant hair jewellery as a souvenir of their safari experience.

The single strand of hair was taken from the elephants tail, and wrapped in gold.

Elephant hair jewellery is seen to prevent illness and harm, as well as bring love and luck.

This bracelet is extremely dainty when worn alone , and also looks fantastic as part of a wrist stack.

Bracelets & Bangles:

How your bracelet fits is a personal preference.
To check your preferred size, wrap a tape measure loosely around your wrist to the tightness you would like your bracelet to fit.
From the end of the tape measure to the point where it crosses the tape is your desired bracelet length.
Please compare this to the measurements specified on each of our bracelet product pages.
Note, some bracelets are adjustable – this will be mentioned in the description.
Note, if a bangle does not have an opening, you must select one that will pass over your fist.
 
 

Necklaces

The measurement will be in cm and inches.
We recommend you place a tape around your neck to see where the chain will sit.

JEWELLERY CARE

Antique Jewellery should be taken care of during wear.

Cleaning and repairs should be carried out by an antique jewellery specialist.

We recommend removing pieces of jewellery before washing hands or showering, as water can damage the antique settings.

Some pieces are not recommended for everyday wear

The Old Cut guarantees the piece up until the new customer receives the item.

Any stones that are lost or damaged during wear are not covered by The Old Cut. These will be charged for replacement, we can of course help find a suitable jeweller to support repairs.
